Organic farming of food crops
We farmed some 15,000 hectares according to the strict regulations of the EU Regulation on Organic Farming. Our branches also comply with the requirements of associations such as Bioland or others. Today, KTG Agrar is the leading producer of organic food crops such as rye, wheat, maize, triticale, lupine, spelt and oats.
The large land areas allow the production of large homogeneous quantities. These are needed by the food processors to achieve a consistently high quality of their products. Quality always comes first for us. The cultivation is constantly monitored from testing the seeds supplied to final delivery. The main activities of organic farming include preparing the soil for taking up the seeds in spring and autumn, the tilling of the soil using agricultural machines and the subsequent harvest, drying, storage and marketing of the crops. KTG Agrar applies a multi-crop rotation system, which involves the planting of greenfeed in winter and intercrop cultivation. This is a natural way of preventing the washing out of nutrients and erosion of the soil. At the same time, we increase the efficiency per hectare. The crop rotation system is usually reviewed after every harvest. The decision about the crops grown in the subsequent year is taken centrally on the basis of market forecasts.
We market our products under our own brand, "BioFarmers". Due to its long-standing expertise and leading market position, KTG Agrar is a diect supplier to leading processors such as mills and feed producers in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the UK. We attach great importance to close and long-standing partnerships with our customers. This gives all parties involved maximum of planning certainty and ensures high transparency in the process chain, thus increasing the safety for the consumer.
